If you’ve been following my blog, the name Century Girl Vintage should be no stranger to you. And that’s exactly where the fourth stop on my Top 10 Favorite Places in New Orleans takes us! I remember the first time I discovered this boutique – I was driving down Magazine Street and abruptly pulled my car over. Walking into the shop, I felt like I had walked into my dream “big girl’s closet”… a collection of high-end vintage cocktail dresses, special occasion wear, accessories and particularly hard-to-find items. Names such as Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, St. John, etc. make frequent appearances. But you have to act quick, because as soon as they come they go!
On any given day, you can expect to be greeted by Century Girl’s lovely owner – Leah Blake. I feel like as soon as we introduced ourselves to one another, we instantly bonded over our love of fashion and vintage pieces. Something that will always stand out to me was the day Leah told me she had something stashed away in the back of the store for me… little did I know it was the most GORGEOUS velvet steampunk coat by Chloe, which I’ve written about here. Some other pieces I was fortunate to snag were a pair of embroidered Oscar de la Renta pants and also a burnout velvet blouse by Escada. The silk jersey jumpsuit I’m wearing here is by Leonard Paris and absolutely stunning!
Great vintage is hard to come by, so if you’re in the New Orleans area – consider yourself lucky! Whether you’re in need of a ball gown or an intricate silk kimono just to walk around your house feeling pretty, Century Girl Vintage will take care of you.
