One of my favorite things when entering a new fashion season is the unveiling of the Pantone color palette. When the upcoming Fall/Winter colors were introduced, my eye was immediately drawn to Valiant Poppy. This is kind of surprising because I can honestly say that orange is probably my least favorite color. However, it’s the tinge of red in Valiant Poppy that makes this color bold and exciting for Fall. Not only have I been attracted to this color when concerning my wardrobe, but in other areas also! On Instagram I’ve always stuck with a pretty desaturated look, however, I’ve noticed lately that I’m starting to incorporate this rust color a little more.
This coming season, surprisingly bold colors are mixed with pastels that are typically expected in Spring and Summer. If you haven’t had the chance to peep the FW18 Pantone color palette, I suggest doing so as this season is a little funky. And I mean funky in a GREAT way! The 10 colors seem to embody the overlying themes of 2018: self-expression, individuality and creativity. Side note: someone had reached out to me recently via Instagram with the assumption that a passion for fashion and beautiful things translates to needing expensive and nice things… WRONG! Fashion is by all means a form of art and self-expression! Personally, I love art in all facets of life – whether it be fashion, dance, etc. It’s fascinating to me that one can communicate and convey emotion without having to say anything, but through creation.
Moving into Fall/Winter, I will put together looks featuring each of the 10 Pantone colors in this season’s palette. To kick off this series, I decided to go big with Valiant Poppy. I absolutely fell in LOVE with this silk skirt by Fleur du Mal! The skirt does come with a matching silk tank, but I almost prefer to dress it down a bit with a white tee. One of the best things about this Pantone color is that it transcends through all seasons!
