Fishnets, despite having been around forever, have been popping up lately… literally coming out the tops of our jeans! For someone who doesn’t really like exposing their midriff like myself, pulling your fishnets up to your rib cage makes wearing a crop top a little more at ease. I feel like I first started seeing this trend when Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma collection debuted. Track suits were made with cropped sweatshirts and slouchy pants, paired with a fishnet bodysuit that almost seemed to dress up the look.
It’s not often that I wear track suits in public, so I wanted to figure out a way to take this trend and apply it to a more “going-out” type of look. I’m not rocking a 6-pack like my sister, so I opted for jeans that had a more slouchy/boyfriend fit since my stomach would essentially be bare. If you’re going with actual fishnet tights as opposed to a full fishnet bodysuit, try and find a crop-top that meets the top of the elastic on the tights. By doing this you’ll accentuate your waistline and it won’t appear as if your tights are digging into you! I chose this tie-front crop-top from American Apparel since the knot gives an illusion of a smaller waist.
But wait… can we stop and give a moment of silence for these amazing glitter pumps with pony hair that have blessed these feet of mine. No – they are not practical, they’re Dolce & Gabbana and absolutely FABULOUS!
