LAST DAYS OF SUMMER

Although I live in New Orleans near the Gulf, I wouldn’t say this place really has anything near a “yacht season”. However, with Summer coming to an end, I figured if I want to partake in any of this nautical fashion that now is the time to do it! Seersucker is HUGE down here – but I’m not a fan. I prefer over-exaggerated vertical stripes instead. That’s why I fell in love with this 2-piece set from Nicole Richie’s line, House of Harlow 1960. Don’t let the long sleeves and pants fool you… the light-weight material is airy and breathable, which is ideal for scorching temperatures!

If I personally had the choice, I’d completely do away with Summers honestly. Give me the dark and gloomy! While Summers down South tend to hold until October, technically Fall officially starts in September čÖé so I’m using┬áthis last month to break out all of my white lace and patriotic inspired attire! The whole nautical theme can be really cute if executed right… what I mean by this is that it can easily be overdone! Anything with an anchor symbol on it, I advise you to toss. Sticking with 2 out the 3 of our country’s red, white and blue is always a good start. My preference is anything with vertical stripes to create an elongated illusion! Straw hats (like this fedora I’m wearing from Goorin Brothers) make the perfect accessory, paired with wedges that have rope detailing.
