If you’ve been following my blog, you’ve seen me post about one of my new favorite colors outside of my usual monochromatic scheme (see HERE). Although Fall is starting to make an appearance with a new Pantone color spread, I’m still lingering on Spring/Summer’s Primrose Yellow. At some point or another, I’m sure we’ve all heard of Donovan’s “Mellow Yellow” that was a hit during the late 60’s. SIDE NOTE: Referencing the popular track in the title of this post has NOTHING to do with “electrical bananas” the song is supposedly about, but more-so to set the cool, laid-back tone my style has been reflecting lately!
Breaking away from my usual skinny jeans, I finally found a high-rise jean with a flared hem I fell in love with by Solace London. High-rise denim always seems to be an issue for me… I have longer legs and a short torso, so my actual waistline sits higher than the rise of most denim. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried these jeans on by Solace that the rise reached my rib cage! The denim itself is hard rather than stretchy (which I prefer), so they end up doing wonders for slimming and elongating. To play up the 70’s feel, I paired with a vintage top with burnout velvet by Escada.
