BACKGROUND: Prior to advertising/publishing, I worked in retail where I developed a loathing for several overused sales pitch phrases including “you can dress it up, or you can dress it down…”. Now that I have pointed this out, it will be all that you notice when shopping and I’m sorry of that!

However, it does bring me to the topic of today’s post, which has seemed to be a reoccurring theme in my style lately… I found this shift-dress by J Brand a few years back that was originally purchased¬†with the intent to be worn to nice social functions in town – that’s maybe happened once! Now, all I want to do is “dress it down” like I’ve done here with sneakers and a silk bomber jacket by Anine Bing. “Fancy” is just not my thing, and that’s probably due to the laissez-faire attitude I’ve developed living in New Orleans. I’m always on a mission¬†to take something nice in my wardrobe and incorporate it into streetwear. I don’t think I’m alone either, which is why sneakers have BLOWN UP in the fashion world. You can basically wear them to cocktail events now! (obviously I am kidding, but you understand)

With the 4th being this weekend, I hope everyone has an awesome and safe holiday! My girlfriend and I are taking ourselves to Miami – CUE WILL SMITH AS THE THEME SONG FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP. If you follow me on snapchat, I’m going to apologize in advance for the overplay! I’ve also never been to Miami before, so if you have any tips on where I should go/what I should do, please comment below or on my Instagram post!
